About Eva

One day Eva walked up the hallway steps of a building on 14th St and 6th ave corner. She has been thinking of doing it for a few years, and that day became the day. There a Yogi sat and said you may come back for classes at these times. She has studied only with Dharma since that day 1984. "What drew me most was listening to the scriptures at the end of the session. It was a heart thing, it all made complete sense, and doing Dharma's postures felt like being in heaven. As I walked down the street after class the city appeared as a blur of shining color. I was finally home".

Eva is a child of Holocaust survivors Fegala Cooper and Kurt Nathan Grubler from Poland and Austria who ended up in Queens. She is named after her grandma who was killed in Auschwitz CC. She has one older brother Benjamin an artist living in Brooklyn. She has been thru many pets. Noticing the reality we see before us should not really be the reality we live, she early on involved herself in the improvement of the world by working for world peace. Friends would not join her trek to the city to sell anti-war in Vietnam buttons on the streets of manhattan at age 12. She insisted on going to Woodstock and begrudgingly got her dad to take her. Due to just the staying alive environment in the home, Eva never even heard of dance and though begging for music lessons could not get any due to lack of money. After spending a year on kibbutz she enrolled in a beginner modern dance class, and the body began to exist. Fast forward just a little bit as all roads lead to the truth or Yoga.

In the late 70's, she began teaching exercise and Yoga in health clubs, has a BA in Dance, and has presented her own choreography in NYC. Eva has taught children and adults in the public school system, given classes and lectures in hospitals and senior centers. For the past 14 years she has been the co-director of Dharma Mittra Yoga. She teaches Theraputic, Senior, Pre-natal and Traditional Dharma Yoga Classes at the center. Eva is the also the Co-director of the "Life of a Yogi" 200 & 500 Teacher Trainings at the Center. "My efforts go only towards moving Dharma's work forward and making sure he stays on the map. Dharma does not have a self-promoting bone in his body, so we must help him in todays wild west of Yoga" . She also helps Krishna Das with his events as much a possible. She is a disciple of Swami Kailashananda, and "yes the Guru is everything".

"All life is just yoga! It is one's duty; you do it because it has to be done". S. Kailashananda

"When the me is no longer there then the Guru is always present" (KD), All is the word and the word is ONE.
