200 Hour Teacher Training

The Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi (DY LOAY TT) 200-hour Teacher Training is an exploration of the classical, yet modern Dharma Yoga Method, with an emphasis placed on mastering both physically and through teaching the Dharma I and Dharma Gentle class series. All teacher trainings are now being offered both live, in-person at the Dharma Yoga Center and are live streamed through Zoom, simultaneously recorded, and then available to all participants on demand through Teachable for one calendar year.

Requirements

The main requirement is to have a desire to help others and guide them on their yoga journey. All applicants are required to have had at least 50 hours of Dharma Yoga instruction. To the extent possible, such instruction should consist of attending classes with Sri Dharma Mittra, retreats or workshops with him, or classes with Dharma Yoga Registered Teachers (DYRTs) who have extensive training under him. If necessary, you can also satisfy this requirement by attending Sri Dharma Mittra’s classes via Zoom or on demand.

Schedule

Days will begin at 7am Eastern and end around 9pm Eastern. There will be one main mid-day break for lunch as well as 10 minute breaks throughout.

Please note there is a booklist as part of this training and all costs associated with supplies are not included in the tuition.

Applications are processed in the order they are received, so we recommend applying early to ensure availability. The application fee can be paid online after submitting your application form. Please note that the final application deadline is 14 days prior to the start date of any offered DY LOAY Teacher Training.

All tuition payment details will be provided upon acceptance into the program. Payment plans are not available, and full tuition must be received at least two weeks before the training begins. If payment is not received within this timeframe, your space may be forfeited.

To achieve certification, participants must:

Complete and submit all pre-training homework assignments to our satisfaction.
Attend every session of the contact hours during the immersion program.
Achieve a passing grade on the oral exam administered during the contact hours.
Complete all assignments given during the training, where applicable.
Submit all supporting documentation and assignments related to the post-immersion internship.

Please note that, in addition to pre-training reading and writing assignments, participants are expected to begin transitioning to a vegetarian diet prior to the training and maintain a vegan diet during the onsite immersion.

Financial Assistance is available for qualified candidates who demonstrate financial need, a sincere desire to help spread the teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra, and a prior connection to the larger Dharma Yoga community. Meeting the eligibility guidelines for the DY Work-Study Scholarship does not guarantee an award. Financial Aid decisions are based on factors including the degree of need, annual household income, the ratio of applicants to available resources, and the applicant’s dedication to becoming a Certified Dharma Yoga Instructor (DYRT).

Candidates must first be accepted into the Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi Teacher Training and pay the $2,000 reservation deposit to secure their place before applying for Financial Aid. To apply, request the DY LOAY TT Scholarship Application Form. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and must be submitted at least one month prior to the start of training.

Please note that the Dharma Yoga Center is not a non-profit, has no endowment fund, and receives no federal or state funding. Financial Aid, when awarded, typically covers only a percentage of tuition (15–20%), depending on available resources and other factors.

Upon acceptance, your reservation deposit is due. Final payments are to be made at least two weeks prior to the start of the course, as detailed in your acceptance letter.

Application fees are non-refundable under all circumstances. They may be applied towards a future NYC Dharma Yoga Training within 2 years.
Cancellations made more than 45 days prior to the start of the program:
- Subject to a $200 cancellation fee
- The remaining balance may be refunded or applied to a future NYC Dharma Yoga Teacher Training within 2 years
Cancellations made 15–44 days prior to the start of the program:
- Subject to a $500 cancellation fee
- The remaining balance may be refunded or applied to a future NYC Dharma Yoga Teacher Training within 2 years
Cancellations made within 14 days of the program start:
- All fees are final and non-refundable
- No transfer or credit available

You are required to submit a note from a doctor or health practitioner certifying you are in good health and to complete and submit the DY LOAY TT Medical Waiver. All teacher training materials are a compilation of the teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra. No part of these materials may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means, whether electronic, photocopying, recording, verbal or otherwise without the prior written permission of the copyright owner, Dharma Yoga.
